Love Notes Envelope Album

Hey guys! I made a really cute Valentine's Day project for the Doodlebug Design Team last year and apparently ... I didn't post it on my blog. Ok, I'm going to try to blame this on my wonderfully busy life but honestly, it might be my age, lol! But this project is just too adorable to miss, so I had to share! Take a look ...

This little cutie is an envelope mini album that uses the pretty Love Notes collection. I was inspired by a cute piece from the Odds & Ends - the little envelope with the flowers popping out of the top. I thought an album made of envelopes would be really fun to create and ... I was right!

I made the album using six A7 size white envelopes with Euro flap. Each page (including the cover) is open with the flap of the envelope facing up.

I chose lots of colorful patterned papers and then cut them for the inside and outside of each envelope. I sized them by tucking a piece of 6 3/4" x 7 1/2" paper into the envelope, tracing around the triangular flap, and cutting just inside my pencil line to create an internal offset.

Once I did that for each page ... it was time to embellish! Yay!! I used lots of pieces from the Odds and Ends, starting with the cover.

I wanted the flowers to look like they were popping out of the envelope so I really layered them on the front and back side.

If you look closely, you can see where I added flower shaped sprinkles, enamel dots and even little hearts to the bouquet. It adds a bit of shine, dimension and well ... it's just so pretty!

Inside each envelope is a photo (or journaling) card of colorful patterned paper backed with white cardstock. They are perfect for adding wonderful photos of your sweetheart, a first date or a fun event. Or add memorabilia like tickets, a Valentine's Day card, a candy wrapper or a love note.

A Doodlebug project cannot escape a bit of twine somewhere so, I tied a "SWEET" bow on this page, lol!

I had fun adding the cute embellishments, die cut pieces and stickers on each page. Look at that adorable heart banner on the envelope flap above. Love it!

This album would be a great place for pictures of your gal pals, friends, girl's night out or lunch with your bestie. Who says you need a man on Valentine's Day??

You could also make this for your daughter who's in high school or away at college. Kids love to get mail and they really love a care package! She could fill it with school memories, friendships and sorority moments.

Be sure to add some journaling cards like the small ones in the photo below. They're great for dates, names or locations.

Well, what do you think? I hope you give this cute envelope project a try. It's a lot of fun and a different way to create an album for your pictures! Enjoy!

  2. I'm a few days behind but I wanted to say this is so stinking cute! I love the idea of using the envelope as a base AND pocket for each page. And Doodlebug Designs has SOOOOO many die cuts in the package that you can easily have tons of bits for this album plus other projects.....and I am someone who piles that stuff on!!!! So when I say you have plenty, you really do haha.
