Lori Whitlock Sizzix Die Tea Party

Hi everyone!  I’m excited to be posting over on Lori Whitlock’s blog today to share some fun projects using her Sizzix dies.  As you know, Lori designs fabulous cutting files for our digital cutting machines, and creates beautiful paper collections for Echo Park.  She also designs wonderful dies for Sizzix!  For crafters who don’t have a digital cutting machine, or who want to cut heavier materials like chipboard, these are so much fun!
I used several different dies and stamps to create a sweet tea party set for a little girl.  I’ve added links below so you can get all of the details.  The papers and embellishments are from the Petticoats collection that Lori designed for Echo Park.

Before you can have a tea party, you have to invite some friends.  I used Lori’s Sizzix Bigz Teapot die to create my invitation.  To create a card, I folded my white card stock and cut the shape out with my fold positioned to the right of the handle’s cut line.  This prevented that area of the handle from cutting and allowed the fold to stay in tact.  I then cut two more teapots to add to the front, and inside, of the card.

I created some adorable treat packaging with the Square Favor Box Bigz Die and the Bigz Favor Bag die.  The “Hello Cupcake” die and stamp sentiment are from Lori’s Birthday Framelits Set.

I created a thank-you card using several of the dies and a stamp from the Jar and Teapot Framelit set and finished my set with a cute little mini album.  The Cupcake #2 Bigz die was perfect for this since I wanted to cut several pieces of thick chipboard.  After cutting the cupcake out of pattern paper also, I glued the page pieces together and punched a hole in one side for a binding ring.  A little ribbon and a lot of enamel dots finished off my mini in no time.

I hope you visit some of the links I’ve included to learn more about Lori’s wonderful designs over at Sizzix.com.

Vintage Travel Scrapbook Mini Album with Carta Bella

Happy Wednesday friends!
It's been a busy few days getting my life back to normal after our family trip to St. Maarten.  Unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping -- always the worst part about traveling!  But we had a great time and the weather was perfect ....

I got a chance to get back into my studio yesterday so I completed the 3rd release in our series of 2016 travel album kits.  The first two have been very popular ....

Vintage Travel Scrapbook Mini Album with Carta Bella

The new one has more of a vintage feel.  For this album I used the Old World Travel collection from Carta Bella.  I just love the aged, antique look of the papers and embellishments.  It will be perfect for European photos,  heritage vacation pictures, and lots of other unique travel memories.

Aren't the colors in this collection wonderful?  The 8x9" chipboard binder album includes 12 6.5x8" scrapbook pages plus 9 plastic photo sleeve pages. The album will hold at least 60 photos.  The title on the cover says "Adventure: For the Love of Travel" and some of the other pages say "Explore", "Sightseeing", and "The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step".  To see my handmade albums and kits, be sure to visit my online shop at www.artsyalbums.shop

Hope all of your travel or "stay-cation" memories are wonderful this summer!

Doodlebug Chunky Twine Tutorial

Good morning friends!  I have a tutorial to share with you today.  The Doodlebug design team was asked to create a project where Chunky Twine was the star of the project.  I created a simple 4x6 album full of black and white family photos, but the fun part was the cover!

To create my album, I found three small pieces of scrap chipboard.  I used white, but you could easily use regular grey chipboard and cover the pieces with pattern paper or paint.  The two cover pieces are 5" x 6 1/4", and the other piece is 4" x 6".  I used a heavy-duty hole punch to punch binding holes in the front and back cover pieces.

Next, I taped one end of my black chunky twine to the back of my 4x6 chipboard, applied a small amount of liquid glue to the front, and starting wrapping the twine around the board.  I repeated this process several times with black, grey, and white chunky twine ... taping the ends on the back, and glueing on the front.  I finish the top of the piece with red twine for a pop of color.

Once the twine was wrapped around the entire 4x6 piece, I used a strong liquid glue to adhere it to the cover of my album (Note:  I added a piece of 4 1/4" x 6 1/4" mint pattern paper and some fancy frills stickers to the album cover before adhering the twine piece)

I added mint pattern paper to the inside front and back covers also, and created a chunky twine heart to carry the twine into the inside.

For the heart, I just punched out a heart shape from white card stock and then added red twine to the heart, glueing as a followed the card stock shape.

For my inside pages, I kept them simple -- plain white card stock measuring 4 3/4" x 6 1/4".  I punched the binding holes and then just added my black and white photos.  I added 10 pages, so I have 20 fun family photos throughout my album.  This little album will be a fun keepsake to carry in my purse and share with friends :)

I hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial and will visit me over on our Facebook Page or Instagram to stay up to date on our latest kits, sales, and giveaways!
