12x12 I Love Puzzles Scrapbook Layout

Hey guys, today is National Puzzle Day! This day is meant to encourage us to exercise our brains by doing jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, Sudoku, etc. Scientists have found that doing these improves our memory, cognitive function, and problem solving skills. Great, my brain needs all that! And, since my granddaughter and I love doing puzzles ... I decided to create a colorful layout with a few of our photos.

This pretty 12x12 page not only celebrates National Puzzle Day, but with a few small tweaks could also be used as a beautiful page for Valentine's Day. Simply change the "I Love Puzzles" to "I Love You", or "I Love Us" ... and it would be perfect.

I created the heart shape using the Bella Blvd, Cut-Outs called The Reason. It reminded me of a puzzle with all of the pieces but, doesn't it also look like a gorgeous stained glass window? Love!

I pulled the bright colors from our puzzle and chose lots of paper from the Bella Blvd, Besties Collections. For the base, I layered the Hearts & Ombre in punch, bell pepper, and gulf. Then for the heart, I chose the Graph & Dot in McIntosh, guacamole, punch, gulf, cotton candy, orange, and bell pepper (links below).

Across the top, I spelled out "I Love Puzzles" with Doodlebug Design's Alphabet Soup puffy stickers in gold. The tiny flowers on either side are the Hello Beautiful enamel shape sprinkles from the Hello Again Collection. And the polka dot heart in the center is a gold foil sticker from the This & That sheet.

At the bottom, I chose some pretty flowers and gold foil leaves from Hello Again, Bits & Pieces. It needed a little something else, so I added a few more enamel flower sprinkles. Yep ... that was it. She's done!

Lots of beautiful saturated colors, gold foil accents, and a super pretty heart. I hope you liked today's project and found a little bit of inspiration from it.

Now, I'm introducing my second kit. It's a cute gender neutral scrapbook album titled Welcome Baby. This precious mini is perfect for sharing your sweet new baby photos. It also makes a fantastic grandparent's brag book or a wonderful handmade baby shower gift.

I designed this with a 6.5x6.5 inch square Prima album and the wonderful Echo Park Special Delivery Baby Collection. It's perfect for a boy or a girl and makes an awesome gift when the gender hasn't been revealed yet. It's also great for someone who prefers a different color scheme other than the traditional pink and blue.

Inside, there are 12 chipboard pages that include 3 fold-out pages, 2 pockets, and 8 flippies (like the cute giraffe one above). It has space for 40 photos that will be highlighted with animals, toys, rainbows, moons, stars, footprints, a stork, a train, and lots of cute baby items!

... another page that's "cute as a button"! It has a gingham print, little animals and toys, and 2 more photo mats on the left. On the right, there's a large space for a photo and a fun flippie that includes a green button and space for 2 more pictures. That's a total of 6 photos on this 1 fold-out page!!

I've added space for journaling so you can document your baby's sweet milestones like their first smile, first word, first outing, first time crawling or sitting up, first steps, trying real food, first haircut, and first tooth.

There are two pockets that are great for saving memorabilia such as greeting cards, notes, baby bracelets, or footprints. I've also included more cute journaling cards.

This makes such a thoughtful baby shower gift. And when they hear you made it yourself ... it will mean so much more.

NEW! 12x12 Birthday Scrapbook Page Layout Kit

It's Friday and that means today, I have a brand new kit in the shop. Actually ... I have TWO! Yay! The first one is a 4-page 12x12 layout kit titled It's My Birthday. It has a colorful celebratory theme that's perfect for your birthday memories. 

The second one is a gender neutral mini album titled Welcome Baby and you can read all about it on it's own blog post HERE. Both projects are fun, creative, and will highlight your memories beautifully. 

This 12x12 page kit was designed with the fabulous Simple Stories Birthday Collection. The 4 pages are filled with multi-colored stars, flags, banners, balloons, a birthday cake, candles, presents, polka dots, and more.

They are wonderfully generic so you can add photos of anyone's birthday ... any age, gender, or type of celebration. Save pictures from a party, a special dinner, or a get-together with friends.

I've added lots of cute elements like the journaling card above. You can document the event, date, location, and names. There's also a birthday cake embellishment and a fun "make a wish" tag with twine.

There's a handy dandy pocket that includes 2 cards with scalloped circle tabs. These can be used as photo mats for pictures, or for more journaling about the special day.

We can't forget the flippie. This one has a birthday wish on the front and room for 2 pictures inside. So many bright, fun, and happy colors!

Valentine's Day Cherry Card & Gift Box Tutorial

Hey friends! Valentine's Day is right around the corner and this past Tuesday was National Pie Day, so ... I found a little inspiration for today's project by combining the two! I created a cute cherry themed card and a pie shaped gift box using a couple of Lori Whitlock's fun cutting files. 

These would make the "sweetest" gift. You could fill the box with candy, a gift certificate, jewelry, a small toy, money, love notes, or clues to a treasure hunt.

Here's how I made the pie slice box ...

I used the cutting file called 3D Cherry Pie Slice (link below). I cut out all of my pieces, then folded them along the score lines. The small notches allow the paper to bend easily to create the pie's shape. I used the Bella Blvd Bestie Hearts & Ombre paper in McIntosh red for this section. Those little hearts are so cute!

I used a liquid glue to adhere this red "cherry" portion of the pie shape together. Then, I added a base inside made out of Bazzill Kraft card stock.

For the lid, I repeated the process that I did for the base. Then, I layered the red "cherry" filling piece, the kraft lattice piece, and finally ... the scalloped crust piece. I used a piece of foam tape under that for some dimension. I added the cute cherry and some lime twine and the box was complete!

Next up, the cherry card ...

For this one, I used the cutting file called Pop Up Box Card Valentine Cherry. I cut out my pieces and layered all of the pattern pieces before assembling the card. I used Bazzill Kraft card stock, white card stock, and a cherry patterned paper from Doodlebug's Bar-B-Cute Collection (all product links below).

As you can see above ... the band of the card attaches to the left and right sides only, leaving the center of the band free of adhesive. This allows the card to fold and pop open easily.

Next, I glued the two remaining pop up elements inside the band as shown above. I used a cute red polka dot paper from Doodlebug's petite print dot & stripe for the hearts.

And ... they're done! My cute cherry themed Valentine's Day card and Cherry Pie Slice Gift Box are ready for gifting. Well, that was easy! I just love Lori Whitlock's cutting files.

NEW! Our Wedding Scrapbook Album

Hello everyone and happy Friday! It's time for a new wedding album! So, if you or someone you know just got engaged, is having a bridal shower, is getting married, or has extra wedding photos that need a safe home ... then this is the mini album for you! What about updating your original wedding album?  Our Wedding is just beautiful!

I designed this with a 6x8 inch black Simple Stories binder and the lovely Echo Park, Wedding Bells Collection. It has gorgeous images of peony flowers, wedding dresses, bow ties, shoes, wedding rings, diamonds, wedding cakes, gifts, a vintage car filled with balloons, and so many pretty patterned papers.

On the cover, I added a fun paper filled with lots of wedding items, a stunning green satin ribbon, and a cute ring box sticker with a clear sparkly jewel!

Inside, the pages are filled with neutral colors of white, brown, grey, and a beautiful pop of green. I love the sage color. The green is soft, subtle, and perfect for anyone's big day. I mean ... doesn't every wedding have flowers, leaves, and plants in their photos?

The album has 24 pages that include all my fun interactive elements. There are 3 fold-out pages, 3 pockets, 6 flippies (like the large one above), and space for 60 photos. Yes, you heard me ... sixty!! That should cover all the fun and crazy moments.

There's plenty of space to journal and document your love story. You can add where you both met, first impressions, first date, special moments, highlights, your engagement, and all the sweet details in between.

Check out this lovely gate-fold page. I added a scalloped border ribbon on either side of the opening and a flippie with a pearl accent. I'm loving the pearls! Inside, there is ...

... lots of space for photos and journaling. The lined card on the right would be perfect for your bridal party's names, wedding gifts, favorite fun moments, or a special story.

Here's another beautiful detail ... a pretty wedding cake decorated with more pearls.

The pockets are great for saving extra photos or memorabilia like an invitation, place cards, love notes, your handwritten vows, wedding cards, receipts, a printed napkin, honeymoon itinerary, tickets, etc...

Snowman Shaped Mini Album with Doodlebug

Hey guys! It's time for another fun Doodlebug Design Team Project and this week, I have a cute snowman shaped mini scrapbook to share with you. It's perfect for your winter photos and such a unique gift idea. I created it using Doodlebug's Snowman With Banner cutting file (link below), then filled it with cuteness from the fabulous new Snow Much Fun Collection. 

To make this, I cut the covers out of white acrylic but you could easily use white card stock instead. I chose the pretty 12x12 Wintery Woods and Ice Crystals prints for his hat. 

For the banner, I chose the Snow Day purple polka dot and added a small piece of mint twine across the top. I tucked the ends underneath his little gloves so that it looks like he's holding on to it. So cute!

Inside, I added 6 white card stock pages that were basically the snowman shape with no banner. I covered each one in a colorful 12x12 pattern paper. For this first page, I used the Snow Much Fun print. I love this. It has lots of cute little animals, kids, snowmen, and winter gear.

Next, I added a round photo mat to each page. I used a 3.5" scalloped circle punch and a 3" circle punch to make these.

How cute are all these penguins stuffed into one gondola? It's like a circus clown car! I love this die cut piece from the Odds & Ends. There are so many cute ones. I added a bunch of them throughout the album. 

The blue jean color of this Wintery Woods print is everything! The shade is so rich. It makes such a nice contrast with the lighter colors.

On this page, I chose the purple house die cut from the Odds & Ends and added some shiny puffy icon stickers. That tiny penguin is so cute and the perfect size for that house!

Ohhh, so many beautiful shades of blue, green, and purple. Here, I used the Frozen Flurry paper as the background. It's mint color and cute snowflake / asterisk print would be great for spring projects too!

The last page (which is actually the back acrylic cover) is exactly like the front cover -  I just left out the twine.
