Pocket Explosion Box Tutorial

Almost February? Wow! Are you ready to show some love to your favorite people in a few weeks? This cute project would be an adorable gift for anyone who deserves a little surprise on Valentine's Day. It's a pocket explosion box that you can fill with pictures, gift cards, love notes, and candy!

When the box is closed, it looks like this ...

but when you pull off the lid, all of these cute little pockets and tags open up!
Aren't the colors in the Love Notes collection pretty?!  The project is as fun to make as it will be seeing the receiver's expression when they pull off the top! So much cuteness pours out!
For the top of the box I used chunky twine, Love Notes icon stickers, odds & ends, and a darling boutique button.
The pages inside were cut from cherry petite prints ... one of my favorite papers to use instead of plain card stock.  Can you also tell I love the enamel hearts? ❤️

To make this project, I used a cutting file by Lori Whitlock that you can find in her svg shop here

There are quite a few pieces to this project, so to make the cutting easier, I created a quick video about the pieces...

Lori also has a more in-depth tutorial for the basic project here.

I hope I've given you some cute Valentine's inspiration today!  We'd love to see what you're creating with Love Notes, so post and tag us over on Facebook and Instagram (oh, and we like pins too)!

Hangin' with My Gnomies Album

Happy Sunday!
Just added an adorable new album to my shop called Hangin' with my Gnomies'. With flowers, buzzing bees and sunny rainbows, it's making me feel like a new season is coming! The winter feels are fading and these new colors are so pretty. Woodland hues of greens, oranges and yellows. Love it!

This would make a great keepsake for all those fun memories with friends and family, just hangin' out spending time together. Perfect for a fun day of gardening with the kiddos, an afternoon at the park or a trip to the botanical gardens.

This can be purchased preassembled or as a DIY kit. If you want to add your own touch, the title can easily be changed to suit any occasion. How cute would this be for a sweet gender neutral baby shower/baby gift! Garden themed baby showers and nurseries are a classic so this could be a beautiful handmade gift. With sayings like "Hello Sunshine", "Gnome Sweet Gnome" and "It's the Little Things" - it would be adorable for new baby pics!

So many cute little gnomes scattered throughout the pages. These fun little characters of fairy tales are thought to be guardians of underground treasure and plant wildflowers wherever they go. Oh... I need some gnomes in my yard. Treasure and flowers? Yes please.

I love the nature woodland theme with spring just around the corner. This scrapbook is packed with tons of embellishments. The mushrooms, snail and watering can are so cute! Lots of stickers, die-cuts, tags, twine and element cards.

This would be an awesome keepsake for photos of a girls weekend, a fun tea party or a child's birthday party. Maybe your teenagers have special photos with friends that need a space to be saved.
The album measures 6x8 and will hold at least 30 photos of varying sizes. The paper and embellies are all put together in a fun, interactive album that has 12+ pages and ... it has fold-out pages and pockets for even more space!
Be sure to visit my shop and check out my newest addition. I think you're gonna love it!

Heart-Shaped Love Notes Mini Album

Cherry, bumblebee and pistachio.  These Doodlebug colors just make my heart happy ... especially when they are all together!  Another thing that makes me happy?  The new Love Notes collection of course!
For today's project, I created a heart-shaped mini album using white card stock and 6x6 Love Notes (and petite prints) paper.
Once I had all of the papers layered together to make six double-sided pages, I started the really fun part ... embellishing!  I love how there are two of the flower clusters in the odds & ends package. This allowed me to place them back-to-back over the album edge on the cover and first page!
The matching flower cluster on this page is from the icon stickers, and I used sprinkles throughout the album to add a little shine!

The pink mat in the photo above is actually a 3x3 doodlebug card that lifts up to reveal pictures or journaling inside.
The little notebook on the cherry page above is from the mini icon stickers, and the scallop "love you" circle is from the this & that sticker sheet.  I'm pretty sure I used something from every embellishment source in this collection!

I had so much fun with this sweet little album and I hope these pretty colors and embellishments have inspired you to be crafty today!!  What will you make with Love Notes?

Love Notes Page Layout Kit

Hey There!
Oh, how I love the weekends. Everything feels a little more relaxed and ... happy!

By the way, fun fact - I recently read somewhere that people are the happiest on Saturdays at 7:26pm. Really? 7:26pm? That's oddly specific, but ... ok. With what I do for a living, I'm pretty happy most of the time. I mean, it's hard to be cranky when you're working with hearts and fun plaids and fat little birds!

Speaking of cute products, check out my new page layout kit. See? What did I tell you ... colorful hearts, fun dots and the birds! So happy!
Although this doesn't have to be for Valentine's Day, that occasion isn't far off. This would be great for all those selfies of you and your sweetie. It can be ordered pre-made or as a pre-cut do-it-yourself page kit. So, basically you can get 2 fun nights outta this. One - date night with your cutie taking brag-worthy photos. And two - the fun scrappin' night with your girls, saving those super cute pics! Win, win!

These pages aren't overly romantic so they can be used for any occasion where you're with someone you love. With sayings like "You Make My Heart Smile", your kids or grandkids pics would be adorable on these pages! Or pics of matching mommy & me outfits!

Oooo! A "Gal-entine's Day" outing just for the girls or a sweet daddy/daughter night out for ice cream would be so cute too! There are spaces for 12-13 photos of varying sizes and places to journal so you can write all about that fun or special occasion.

This Love Notes page layout kit is available in my shop, so hop on over and check out what else is new. See you there!

You and Me Love Notes Album

Happy New Year guys!
2020 is here and I'm so excited for what the new year will bring. I hope everyone had a really wonderful holiday. I sure did. I loved being with my family and watching my 3yr. old granddaughter enjoy Christmas. So much fun! But now it's time to get back to life and I have some great new things to share with you!

First, I have a NEW album called "You and Me Love Notes". Just in time for Valentine's Day or any occasion where loved ones are involved.

This album is filled with so many cute images - pretty flowers, yummy treats, hearts & chubby little birds. I'm loving the overall "love is in the air" feel but it also has a sweet springtime theme that makes this album great for all occasions.

I love the fun heart paper, bright plaid and fresh, happy colors. Since it's not overly romantic it's perfect for any special relationship. There's a place to put a love note from your sweetie or you can use it to save a cute little message from your children or grandkids. And btw ... you MUST save those sweet notes from the kids while they're little. You're gonna need them as reminders during those teenage years! Lol
This would make a great gift or a fun activity to fill with pictures of you & your sweetheart, your family, best friends, your kids or anyone that's important to you. And I love the idea of this being a fun weekend project to do with your scrappy girlfriends, your children or your grandchildren. Love quality time!

With pages to pull out and pockets to store things, it includes 12 scrapbook pages (6 double-sided) and 8 divided plastic photo sleeves so there's plenty of room for all those memorable items.

Honestly, it's a great gift for Valentine's Day or just about any day!

More News!!
I also want to tell you about some new additions coming to my shop soon. I'm adding a section where you can purchase instructions (digital downloads) for my retired kits. Many of you may still have extra supplies from collections I've used for my albums in the past or maybe you're looking for ideas on what to do with your own papers & embellishments. I gotcha covered! Under Digital Downloads you can browse through album kits and page layouts from years past and purchase the instructions to recreate them with your own supplies!

I'm also adding a new section of my favorite supplies (adhesives, papers, albums, etc). Having used these products, I recommend them knowing they are a great quality and will last a lifetime.

Come visit my shop today and check back regularly. I have lots of new things coming in 2020!!

Snowflake Photo Wall Hanging

Sometimes when I see a new product I get an idea for using it right away.  That's what happened when I saw the acetate snowflakes in the Winter Wonderland Odds & Ends.  I just thought they would be so pretty hanging down from a wall or mobile!

To make this wall hanging, which I also think will be pretty in front of a window, I laid out all of the acetate snowflakes on my craft table first.  This helped with picking sizes and colors.  Then I used a 1/16" hole punch to punch two tiny holes in each piece.
I used fishing line to string the snowflakes and added a Doodlebug jewel to the front and back of each one.

I added a few snowman sprinkles here and there, and weighted the bottom of the fishing line with two large jewels back to back.
Finally, I added washi tape, die cuts, and ribbon to a thin piece of wood, and hung each strand of snowflakes across the back.
It really looks so pretty hanging over my corner desk in my craft room, but would also be great in front of a window!  Another idea would be to hang the strands around a decorated embroidery hoop!  Thanks for checking in today, and hopefully I've given you another idea for using these beautiful acetate snowflakes and jewels!
