Love Notes Pocket Explosion Box Tutorial

Hey guys! Are you ready to show some love to your favorite people in a few weeks? This cute project would be an adorable gift for anyone who deserves a little surprise on Valentine's Day. It's a pocket explosion box that you can fill with pictures, gift cards, love notes or candy!

When the box is closed, it looks like this ...

... but when you pull off the lid, the sides drop down and show off all of these cute little pockets and tags!

Aren't the colors in the Love Notes collection pretty?!  The project is as fun to make as it will be seeing the receiver's expression when they pull off the top! So much cuteness pours out!

For the top of the box I used chunky twine, Love Notes icon stickers, odds & ends, and a darling boutique button.

The pages inside were cut from cherry petite prints ... one of my favorite papers to use instead of plain card stock.  Can you also tell I love the enamel hearts?

There are quite a few pieces to this project, so to make the cutting easier, I created a quick video about the pieces...

Lori also has a more in-depth tutorial for the basic project here.

Below, I've listed the product links for this adorable explosion box. I've also added 2 links for the instructions for projects of mine that use the Love Notes Collection as well - a 6"x8" album and 12x12 layouts. I hope this gives you lots of cute Valentine's inspiration today!

Hangin' with My Gnomies Scrapbook Album

Hello everyone! I just added an adorable new album to my shop called Hangin' with my Gnomies'. I'm really looking forward to spring and these cute little gnomes, flowers, buzzing bees, and sunny rainbows are making me so happy! This mini is filled with fresh colors in Woodland hues of greens, oranges and yellows. Love.Hangin' with My Gnomies Scrapbook by Artsy Albums

To purchase the instructions for this album visit:

This would make a great keepsake for photos of spring, summer, friends, family, and fun everyday moments. Add photos of a day of gardening, the kiddos, an afternoon at the park, enjoying nature, coffee with friends, or a trip to the botanical gardens.

Hangin' with My Gnomies Scrapbook Album page with gnomes, rainbows, and flowers

I designed this with the adorable PhotoPlay, Tulla and Norbert Collection and a 6x8 inch chipboard album by 49 & Market. The album has 12+ pages that include interactive flippies, fold-out pages, pockets, and space for at least 30 photos.

Hangin' with My Gnomies Scrapbook Album page with a pocket and journaling cards

I love this nature / woodland theme. Garden themed nurseries are classic so this could be perfect for pictures of a baby shower or as a gift. With sayings like "Hello Sunshine", "Gnome Sweet Gnome" and "It's the Little Things" - it would be adorable for new baby pics.

Spring Scrapbook Album with flowers and photo mats for friends & family

This would be an awesome keepsake for photos of a girls weekend, a fun tea party, or a birthday party. Maybe your teenagers have special photos with friends that need a space to be saved.

Hangin' with My Gnomies Scrapbook Album page with flowers, mushrooms, and polka dots

There are so many gnomes scattered throughout the pages. These fairy tale characters are thought to be guardians of underground treasure and are known to plant wildflowers wherever they go. Oh... I need some gnomes in my yard. Treasure and flowers? Yes please! Thanks so much for stopping by ...

Update: This kit has sold out but the instructions are available in my shop. They are simple, step-by-step, and include full color photos of each page. Links for the instructions and the products used are below. Happy scrappin'!

Heart-Shaped Love Notes Mini Album

Hi friends! Cherry, bumblebee and pistachio. These Doodlebug colors just make my heart happy ... especially when they are all together. Another thing that makes me happy? The new Love Notes collection of course!

For today's project, I created a heart-shaped mini album using white card stock and 6x6 Love Notes (and petite prints) paper.

Once I had all of the papers layered together to make six double-sided pages, I started the really fun part ... embellishing!  I love how there are two of the flower clusters in the odds & ends package. This allowed me to place them back-to-back over the album edge on the cover and first page!

The matching flower cluster on this page is from the icon stickers, and I used sprinkles throughout the album to add a little shine!

The pink mat in the photo above is actually a 3x3 doodlebug card that lifts up to reveal pictures or journaling inside.

The little notebook on the cherry page above is from the mini icon stickers, and the scallop "love you" circle is from the this & that sticker sheet.  I'm pretty sure I used something from every embellishment source in this collection!

I had so much fun with this sweet little album and I hope these pretty colors and embellishments have inspired you to be crafty today!!  What will you make with Love Notes?

12x12 Love Notes Scrapbook Page Kit

Happy Sunday! Oh, I love the weekends. Everything feels relaxed and happy. Did you know that people are the happiest on Saturdays at 7:26pm. Really, 7:26pm? That's oddly specific, but ... ok. With what I do for a living, I'm pretty lucky to be happy most of the time. I mean, it's hard to be cranky when you're working with fun paper & cute embellishments all the time!

And speaking of cute ... check out my new 12x12 Love Notes Layout Kit. I designed these 4 pages with the adorable Doodlebug Design, Love Notes Collection.

To purchase the instructions for these visit:

Although this doesn't have to be for Valentine's Day, that occasion isn't far off. This would be great for all those selfies of you and your sweetie. So, basically you can get 2 fun nights outta this. One - date night with your cutie taking brag-worthy photos. And two - a fun scrappin' night with your girls, saving those super cute pics! Win, win!

These pages aren't overly romantic so they can be used for any occasion where you're with someone you love. With sayings like "You Make My Heart Smile", your kids or grandkids pics would be adorable on these pages! Or pics of matching mommy & me outfits!

Oooo! A "Gal-entine's Day" outing just for the girls or a sweet daddy/daughter night out for ice cream would be so cute too! There are spaces for 12-13 photos of varying sizes and places to journal so you can write all about that fun or special occasion.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Update: This kit has sold out but the instructions are available in my shop. They are simple, step-by-step, and include full color photos of each page. Links for the instructions and the products used are below. Happy scrappin'!

You & Me Love Notes Scrapbook Album

Happy New Year guys!  2020 is here and I'm so excited for what the new year will bring. I hope everyone had a really wonderful holiday. I loved being with my family and watching my 3 year old granddaughter enjoy Christmas. So much fun!

But, now it's time to get back to work and I'm happy to share my latest album with you. It's called You and Me Love Notes and it's just in time for Valentine's Day!

To purchase the instructions to make this visit:

I designed this with the (oh so cute!) Doodlebug Design, Love Notes Collection and a 6x8 inch Simple Stories binder album in robin's egg blue.

This is filled with so many great images of pretty flowers, yummy treats, hearts, & little birds. It's got the "love is in the air" feeling mixed with a springtime theme so ... it's great for all occasions.

Check out the whimsical heart paper, bright plaid, and happy colors. Since it's not overly romantic, it's perfect for any relationship. There's a pocket to save a love note from your sweetie or you can use it to save a cute little message from your children or grandkids.

This makes a fun activity to create then you get to fill it with pictures. Add ones of you and your sweetheart, family, best friends, littles, or anyone that's important to you. Or, give it as an amazing handmade gift!

This mini has 12 scrapbook pages (6 double-sided) that include folding pages, flippies, pockets and space for at least 60 photos. It also uses 8 divided plastic photo sleeves for extra photos.

This is a great gift idea for Valentine's Day or ... just about any day! Visit my shop for scrapbook & page layout kits, premades, instructions, supplies, & so much more. See you there!

Snowflake Photo Wall Hanging

Sometimes when I see a new product I get an idea for using it right away.  That's what happened when I saw the acetate snowflakes in the Winter Wonderland Odds & Ends.  I just thought they would be so pretty hanging down from a wall or mobile!

To make this wall hanging, which I also think will be pretty in front of a window, I laid out all of the acetate snowflakes on my craft table first.  This helped with picking sizes and colors.  Then I used a 1/16" hole punch to punch two tiny holes in each piece.
I used fishing line to string the snowflakes and added a Doodlebug jewel to the front and back of each one.

I added a few snowman sprinkles here and there, and weighted the bottom of the fishing line with two large jewels back to back.
Finally, I added washi tape, die cuts, and ribbon to a thin piece of wood, and hung each strand of snowflakes across the back.
It really looks so pretty hanging over my corner desk in my craft room, but would also be great in front of a window!  Another idea would be to hang the strands around a decorated embroidery hoop!  Thanks for checking in today, and hopefully I've given you another idea for using these beautiful acetate snowflakes and jewels!
