Birthday Cards for World Card Making Day

Happy World Card Making Day! Paper Craft magazine created this day in October 2006 to encourage people to get ahead of the holiday season. It turned out to be so popular that it became an annual event around the world. So when Doodlebug Design asked its team members to create a few cards for the day, I was happy to! Artsy Albums celebrated its 15th birthday this week, so I thought that was a perfect theme for this project.🎈

Handmade birthday cards with flowers, a cake, gifts, pinwheels, and bright colors

To make these, I cut two 4.25" x 5.5" card bases out of lily white cardstock and decorated them with the Cupcakes and Candles Collection (links below). It features beautiful flowers, cakes, pinwheels, and the happiest color palette!

Handmade birthday card with lots of pretty flowers, a cake, and a striped pocket with pinwheel decorations tucked inside

Look how cute! I think this handmade card is sure to brighten someone's day! I started by adhering the limeade Balloon Bouquet and the floral Blooming Birthday prints to the white base. Then, I chose the striped pocket from the Bit & Pieces and tucked 3 pinwheels from the Odds & Ends inside. I added an enamel dot from the Birthday Girl sprinkles to each and the "It's Your B-day" die cut from the Chit Chat. I finished it off with the beautiful Birthday Cake Doodle-pops, and ... this card was complete!

Handmade birthday cards with gifts, flowers, confetti, and colorful strips of pattern papers

For the second card, I added the Colorful Confetti print on top of the base, then added a piece of lily white cardstock. I cut and adhered thin strips of 6x8 pattern papers to the card and varied their lengths for interest. Then, I chose another sweet Doodle-pops called Wrapped in Ribbons. I love that the gifts are topped with flowers and have a tiny Happy Birthday at the bottom. So cute! I finished with card with some fabulous enamel sprinkles, and ... card #2 was complete!

I hope these handmade cards have inspired you to create some for yourself. They're a quick and easy project and so fun if you love crafting but are short on time. Product links are below.
