July 4th Cards with Doodlebug Cut Files

Hey friends! It's time for my latest Doodlebug Design Team Project and today, I'm sharing two 4th of July cards I made with the new Yankee Doodle cutting files! You can use these with any of the cutting machines like Silhouette, Cricut, etc., and they're so fun. They're titled 4th Heart, USA and Love the USA (links below).

I made the heart into a folded card by welding the base heart shape to a vertically flipped duplicate. Here's a tip: once you cut the stripes out of red paper, save the negative image and lay it over your white base card. It will help you position where the red stripes should be placed. I had a 5x5 square envelope, so I made my heart 4 3/4" wide. Always be sure your card will fit into a standard size envelope before you start cutting.

I love that the little heart on the "USA" cutting file can be cut separately and placed anywhere on the shape ... since I live in Georgia, I placed it there :)

The "Love the USA" blocks are really fun.  You could add the entire phrase, or just the "I (heart) U" to so many projects.  I used foam adhesive to give the blocks a little dimension, and I'll use the USA shape on other projects in the future ... travel, home ... etc.

Below are links to the cutting files and products used. The flower paper in the photo is called Patriotic Posies and it's from the Doodlebug Design, Patriotic Parade Collection. Happy scrappin'!
