July 4th Cards with Doodlebug Cut Files

Hey friends, Doodlebug has new cutting files and they're so cute! You can use them with any of the cutting machines like Silhouette, Cricut, etc. The files are available in the Silhouette Online Store and as SVG files in Lori Whitlock's online shopToday, I'm sharing some cards I made with a few of the cutting files from this release - the 4th Heart, the USA and the Love the USA (the blocks). Links for these are below.

I made the heart into a folded card by welding the base heart shape to a vertically flipped duplicate. Here's a tip: once you cut the stripes out of red paper, save the negative image and lay it over your white base card. It will help you position where the red stripes should be placed. I had a 5x5 square envelope, so I made my heart 4 3/4" wide. Always be sure your card will fit into a standard size envelope before you start cutting.

I love that the little heart on the "USA" cutting file can be cut separately and placed anywhere on the shape ... since I live in Georgia, I placed it there :)

The "Love the USA" blocks are really fun.  You could add the entire phrase, or just the "I (heart) U" to so many projects.  I used foam adhesive to give the blocks a little dimension, and I'll use the USA shape on other projects in the future ... travel, home ... etc.

Below are links to the cutting files & products used. The flower paper on the table above is Doodlebug's Patriotic Posies from the Patriotic Parade collection and can be found here. Happy scrappin'!
