Matilda the "scrap lifted" owl

A couple months back I saw the most adorable mini in a Scrapbook Trends Mini Album magazine.  Jennifer Beason made a precious owl out of a maya road album.  I saved the photo and hoped I would one day have a chance to scrap-lift Jennifer's cute idea.  I was in my LSS today and found the Fancy Pants Artist Edition chipboard banners and the shape of one reminded me of the owl.  Here is my version...different papers and embellishments than the published original, but SO fun to create and every time I look at "Matilda" (a co-worker decided we needed to name her) I have to smile.  So funny....

Boy Scrapbook Page Layouts

What's a girl to do when she can't sleep?  Scrapbook, of course.  So I created some pages with a very cute line (Fine and Dandy True Blue) from My Mind's Eye ... one of my very favorite companies.  Their papers and embellishments are always great and make creating fun pages and minis so easy.

My boys are now 17 and 20 years old and I have TONS of photos that I have not scrapped of them!  TONS!  And here's why...I don't scrapbook chronologically.  If I did, I would get stressed out about order and time-lines and miss the best part of scrapping for me -- which is ... I scrapbook whatever I'm in the mood to create. Today I felt like toddler pages and a card. If I had to go in order I would get bored. That's me.

This is my 17 year old son when he was absolutely huggable.  Not that he isn't huggable now...but hugging mom no longer ranks at the top of his "to do" list.  This was his first day of preschool.

He was 2 years old and I was working full-time.  I was so afraid he would cry when I dropped him off.  Oh there were tears alright ... but they were mommy's!  I just drove off to work thinking "this could not be right ... his lunch box is almost bigger than he is!"  Fifteen years later and I had fun scrapping this page about my amazing, artistic, smart, not so huggable boy.

And here is one of Jordy when he was one years old at the park with a friend. Love the banner stickers that come with this collection!

Not sure why I decided to do a card.  I am not usually a card person but when I looked at my left-over paper and embellishments, something just said card...who knows. Anyway, it had to turn out cute because the owl is so stinkin' cute!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all Dads out there! Today I am posting pictures of a Father’s Day mini album that I created for my LSS.

The album makes a neat little gift for any Dad and combines products from Bo Bunny, 7 Gypsies, and Tim Holtz.

I just love Bo Bunny’s Mamarazzi line -- having three men in my house, I have used this blue and brown collection multiple times.

The album’s chipboard style and kraft color were incorporated with a few embellishments from Tim Holtz.

I never mind using ribbon and flowers on masculine pages ... I think they add texture and interest and don’t always have to look feminine.

As always, thank you so much for visiting my shop! My goal is to create scrapbooks, memory albums, and kits that encourage people to share their stories, preserve their photos, and document their everyday lives.

Mini Albums are my favorite!

Whenever my LSS gets a new paper line in the store, especially a line that has tons of cute stickers, tags, and other fun embellishments, my mind immediately starts thinking of a cute mini album project.  Minis are my favorite scrapbook project because there are so many possibilities for them.  You can really use your imagination with these cute little keepsakes -- endless themes, pull-outs, pockets, fun ways to bind them together, the creativity goes on and on.  I created the mini above for a designer class contest and used two of my favorite things in the design -- scallop tabs and tons of pockets!

Little Gift for a Sweet Baby Girl

A sweet little book for a sweet little girl.
