Happy New Year Album with Simple Stories

Happy New Year (almost) everyone!  Today I wanted to share a super quick album that comes together easily and would be a wonderful gift for a New Year's party hostess, or your own celebration photos.
I just love the 4x6 snap albums for gifts!  They are easy to create, unique, and perfect for saving memories from a special occasion!
For this album, I used the Simple Stories 2019 collection.
A little bit of silver and black card stock work perfectly with the black & white scheme in the papers and stickers.

The 4x6 photo pockets make it simple for the gift recipient to add their own photos to the album after the party!

So there it is ... easy peasy!  Hopefully I've inspired you with another handmade gift idea.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!

2019 Calendar Pages using Daily Doodles

Wow, can you believe it's almost 2019?!  Before each new year, I create a wall calendar for my studio.  I use lots of scraps and left-over pieces and have fun designing twelve 12x12 pages. I loved the Daily Doodles calendar sheets last year, so I'm using them again.  Here are some of the pages I've completed so far.
I have 4 clipart boards near my desk and I hang up four months at a time and then rotate them out with new pages as the year goes on.  At the end of the year, I put them in a scrapbook album!
I try to give each month a colorful theme using sprinkles, stickers, and odds & ends from lots of different collections.

I could really use up a ton of number stickers and rub-ons, so I don't add them to every square.  I like the look of just a few dates scattered around the page.

For the month titles, I used the daily doodles lily white month stickers.  I need to get more of these because they're also great for everyday scrapbook pages.

Once I finish up the rest of the months, I'll post them over on my Artsy Albums blog.  Until then, I hope I've given you some ideas for a fun project for 2019.  Happy New Year everyone!

Christmas Gift Card Album with Doodlebug Designs

'Tis the season for gift giving, and gift cards are always a popular choice.  Here's a cute project to make giving gift cards a little more special...
This is a 4x6 folded tag album with 5 pockets.  I used the adorable Doodlebug Christmas Town collection and added Odds & Ends, sprinkles, and a cute "Do Not Open" sticker on the cover.
I love the little buildings in "Christmas Town" so I adhered one to the front of each pocket ... it reminds me of a cute little shopping village!  The papers I used for the pockets are from the 6x6 paper pad.
I have included a DIY cut/score guide in this post.  The page above with the cute tree is the back of "page I" (and the first page you see when you open the cover) The front cover of the album is the back of "page A".

DIY Guides:
For this project I used two sheets of 12x12 white card stock cut to 8"x12" each.   I scored each piece at 4" and 8", and then 2" up across the bottom to create a fold for the pockets.

After making your score lines, use scissors to cut out the pocket section (F) of page C.  Now adhere the back of page G to the front of page C.
Once you have the pages adhered, fold them up together and make two cuts at the corners.  Cutting the corners together will ensure they are all the same angles when the album is folded.  Before cutting mine, I measured over 1" and down 1" and marked my cut line to get them symmetrical.
Once the white card stock portion of your album is cut and scored, adhere the pattern papers to the front and back of each "page".  The paper should be cut to 3 3/4" x 5 3/4".  After adding the backgrounds, adhere the flaps up on the right and left sides to create 5 pockets across the album.  The pattern paper for the pocket fronts should be 1 3/4" x 3 3/4".
It's a really fun project that comes together pretty quickly.  Let me know if you decide to make one!  We'd love to see it so please share on social media and tag us #doodlebugdesigns and #artsyalbums!

My Winter Memories with Freezin Season by Simple Stories

It doesn't stay cold in Georgia for very long, but given the weather here over the last few days,  it seems like we went from summer to winter and skipped fall all together!  So with chilly temperatures on my mind, I decided to create some pocket pages from recent years using Freezin Season.
I love the colors in this collection!!  That touch of pink with the aqua and teal work well with my photos even though those colors aren't in my pictures.
Since I have a lot of photos, I added a folded card (4"x8", scored at 4") and slipped it into one of the 4x4 plastic sleeves.  This gave me space for an extra photo and a fun 4x4 phrase card.

I used another folding card (6"x8", scored at 4") on the layout above. I adhered a 4x6 element card to the front, and a journaling card and photo inside.

Stickers from the 4x6 sticker pack were perfect for adding tabs, phrases, and snowflakes throughout the pages.

I also added in some journaling spots and cute die cuts from the Bits & Pieces package.

I hope I've inspired you to document your winter memories in a fun snap album.  I used the 6x8 Robin's Egg Stripe Designer binder since it coordinates beautifully with Freezin Season.  Have fun and stay warm!
