Blog Hop with Frosted Designs

Welcome to the Frosted Designs Blog Hop!  The hop started at the Frosted Designs site, so if you didn't start there, please head over there to get started!

Since you are here, you must have come from Channa's blog.  Wonderful inspiration right? Her layout is beautiful! Well, here is my take on our hop sketch.
For my techniques, I incorporated misting, die-cutting, and computer journaling on a tag.
I also incorporated a little twine around the entire edge of my layout.  Twine might be my new favorite scrappy product :)

For the misting, I wanted it to look like water spray from the pool. I held my paper flat out in front of me and sprayed across the top, rather than down on it.

We have some wonderful sponsors (Molossi and Graphic 45) for this hop, so please stop by their sites and show them some love!

I am offering a prize here at my site too! To qualify for the Artsy Albums prize, you must leave a comment below and like Artsy Albums on Facebook (not on Facebook? become a follower here at Artsy Albums instead)

The winner of the Artsy Albums prize will win an Artsy Albums mini album kit! (Check out the current kit collection on the tabs above this post.)

Thanks for stopping by today!
The next stop on your hop is
Sandra's blog!
Have fun !

Punch Challenge with Frosted Designs

It's challenge day over at Frosted Designs and I am loving this one!  The challenge is to create a project using punches.  So before you head over there to check out all the fun inspiration and link up your own punchy project...I have a tip for you :)

I love my punches but I often don't want to mess up an entire sheet of 12x12 paper to punch out one little butterfly or banner.  Yes, I do save and use my scraps....but I have also started saving the packaging that comes with my paper packs.  The colors match exactly, and the images are usually just smaller versions of the actual 12x12 sheets.

Here's an example of how I used the packaging sheet from my Bo Bunny Surprise pack:
I used two different punches in various areas of the paper so that I could get different patterns that matched my layout.  I used some for the banners, and I used others to "fill-in" the rectangles on my film strip.  Fun, easy, and it saved me from punching up all of my 12x12 sheets!  Here is my finished layout:
I used three punches on this page:
EK "film strip", Stampin Up "Pennants", and Fiskars "in stitches".

I was going to add a banner to the bottom of my page using these cute triangle punches, but when I started playing with the design, I wanted a round element at the bottom of the page.  I like the way this turned out...kind-of reminds me of birthday cake slices! ... and oh my goodness, how cute are Rian's dimples?   :)

So visit Frosted Designs and check out other design team members' projects.  Then pull out your own punches and get busy! You might win a fun prize if you link up your creation with us!

Father's Day Album - Hat's Off To You, Dad

Hi friends! Father's Day (Grandpa too!) is right around the corner! If you are like me, I have the hardest time buying my sweet dad something new and different each year. But every parent loves photos of their kids, their grandkids, or their hobby. So, here's an great album just for dad ...

You could also make this scrapbook all about him adding his childhood pictures, old vintage family photos and memories from the past. What a personal, unique and thoughtful present ... Dad will love going back down memory lane!

Dad and Grandpa probably don't need another tie, belt, or cologne, lol! And besides, this will last way longer than any of those items.

This album was made with an archival quality, chipboard album by Prima and I used a really fun collection by Fancy Pants called Swagger ... perfect for our awesome dads.

I hope this inspires you to create a wonderful Father's Day gift for a special man in your life! Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin'!

Loving Lori Whitlock's Designs

This has been a month full of birthdays, graduations, and weddings so instead of buying cards, I always like to make them.  Now, if you follow my blog, or know me at all, you know mini albums are my favorite project, so I guess it makes sense that I like to make mini cards too.  You know, the little gift notes that aren't really cards, but are big enough to tuck onto a gift with a "to" and "from".  I love a 3x3 size, so when I was stalking around on Lori Whitlock's wonderful site, I came across an adorable 3x3 card box.  I decided to make a few cards, tuck them into the box, and have them handy for upcoming gifts!

Lori is sharing this project over on her site today, so I hope you will pop over to her blog and check it out.  Here's a sneak peek -- head to Lori Whitlock's site to see the entire project :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Fun Silhouette Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Today I want to send you over to Lori Whitlock's website.  I have a fun tutorial posted over on her site.  If you have a digital cutting machine like a Silhouette SD, or Cameo, you probably enjoy cutting shapes out of your paper.  This tutorial will show you how to cut shapes to pop up from the page.

As you can see in this sweet layout about my adorable niece, Hannah, the border and the butterfly, pop up to show the paper underneath!  So head over to Lori's website to check out how to do this with digital cutting files on your own pages!

"Fern & Forest" mini album with Little Yellow Bicycle

I'm excited to be sharing a fun project over on Little Yellow Bicycle's blog today!  As I told everyone over at LYB, with two boys I rarely have a chance to create with really girly paper collections like Fern & Forest Girl.  So when these goodies arrived in the mail, I was beside myself.  I spent the whole day playing with pink and purple :)

I started this album by die-cutting chipboard pages into lots of fun shapes.  Then after covering each page with the adorable papers in this collection, I started adding embellishments.  Some of my favorite things about this mini:

  • Little Yellow Bicycle's White Canvas "Naturals" embellishments (especially the tags and flowers)
  • The glitter on the clear cut mushrooms, butterflies, and titles
  • Journaling cards -- always one of my favorites for tucking behind

Please visit Little Yellow Bicycle for lots more wonderful inspiration and project ideas using this adorable collection.  Thanks for stopping by today!!

A Perfect Summer Waterfall Album

He guys! Summer is coming and I can't believe it's already May. Recently, I found a bunch of awesome cutting files over on Lori Whitlock's site and I knew a summer mini was calling my name. So, I created this adorable waterfall album! You can also see this album posted on Lori's blog here.

This fun cascading album is one of my favorite new digital cutting files from Lori called Tiered Album Ticket (link below). She has several of them and they all have different edges. If you got each design, you could mix and match scallops, zig zags, pennants, and lots of other cute edges.

"The Perfect Summer Day" title is a cut file called 2 Summer Titles (link below) and I used a fun Echo Park collection called "A Perfect Summer". I'm loving that little blue fish! 🐟

Since it's an Artsy Album ... of course, I had to add a pocket! 😊 I used one of Lori's cutting files called Library Pocket with Tab. It's the perfect size for tucking in a journaling card. So cute! And the flower is another cutting file called Layered Flowers Set 2. (Both links below.)

Don't you just LOVE that sunshine paper in the background? This great collection mixes such fun prints like chevrons, stripes, waves and fish. Perfect for photos of the beach, pool, vacation pics and warm weather activities.

There are places to journal about your favorite memories and "what you 💗 about summer" ... like sunshine, ice cream, seashells, long days, BBQs, building sand castles and picnics in the park!

The sunshine below is another one of Lori's cutting files called Chevron Edge Set. I loved the shape - it went perfectly with the papers in this collection.

And last but not least, the August title is a cutting file called 12 Months. I've added the links below and again, the paper and embellishments were from Echo Park's "A Perfect Summer" collection. Thanks so much for stopping by!
