Summer Days Scrapbook with Simple Stories

Hi everyone!  I'm back to share a new Simple Stories Sn@p album with you. This one is of my family's 2013 trip to Hawaii. I love the bright colors in the Summer Days collection and it worked perfectly for these photos. As you can see, I'm a bit behind on my scrapbooking ... but I did it!

If you like pocket scrapbooking, but never know what to do with the full 6x8 sleeve, check out a few of these ideas ...

Add a fold out card to the front of the page.  Not only is it a fun place to use the 4x6 vertical cards (as I did below), but it also allows you to get 2-3 full 4x6 photos on a 6x8 page!

Here are a few more examples of how I use the 6x8 pages ...

I like adding different sized pages in my albums.  I think it adds interest and a different element as you flip through the book.  Below, I cut one of the 6x8 pages (included in the Sn@p album) in half vertically, and then added some stickers and photos.  These 1/2 pages are also great places for journaling!

One of my favorite embellishments is chipboard.  In the photo below, I added the arrow and burger to the outside of the plastic.  This works great if you want to overlap two of the pockets!

While in Hawaii, we took a helicopter tour.  I highly recommend it for beautiful photos of the island.  If you have two 3x4 pockets side-by-side (below), don't be afraid to cut your photo in half and insert 1/2 into each pocket.  Again, I think this adds some fun interest to the book.

I guess I need to fill out my summer bucket list ... especially since summer will be over before I know it!  Until next time, happy scrapping! 😊

12x12 Life is Sweet Yarn Stitched Layout with Doodlebug

Hi Artsy Albums friends!  I'm back over on the Doodlebug Blog today sharing my project for the design team's stitching challenge.  So I have to be honest with you ... this one was tough for me! I have one sister and when God was handing out the sewing gene, he gave it to her.  She's a wiz with a needle and a sewing machine. Me? Not so much!

Another fun fact about me -- when I was little and would color in coloring books, I liked to use my crayons to outline everything in the picture.  I would rarely color the pictures in, so I'm not surprised that this is the project I came up with :)

I love all of the cute 12x12 designs that Doodlebug has started doing for each collection.  This one is from the Cream & Sugar collection (5498: sweet shoppe stripe double-sided cardstock). I used a mouse pad underneath the paper and a paper piercer, and randomly punched holes around each of the images.

I grabbed up several colors of Doodle Twine and plopped down in front of my tv. It was actually a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

I did one image at a time so that all of the holes on the backside of the paper wouldn't get confusing.

Although I struggled to come up with my project, I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I framed the piece and it now hangs just below my Doodlebug pin collection in my craft room.

Hopefully I've inspired those of you who also lack the "sewing gene", to find a fun piece of paper and some Doodle Twine and get stitching!  Have fun!

Spring Clipboard Project with Doodlebug

Hello everyone! Today, I'm hoping on the blog to quickly share my latest Doodlebug Design Team Project. I created a 12x12 spring page using the adorable Odds & Ends die cuts from the Spring Things collection.

This is one of my all-time favorite die cut collections because of the flowers and cute little critters. I wanted something I could hang on my wall for a fun pop of color in my craft room. I didn't have a 12x12 frame, so the Doodlebug clipart board worked perfectly!

My inspiration started with this piece of 6x6 paper from the Spring Things 6x6 paper pad. I used my circle cutter to cut out the circle and then adhered it to the center of my white card stock.

Then I used a plate to draw another circle for my odds and ends. I laid all of the pieces around the circle to determine placement before I adhered them. I love how the acetate pieces look popped up and overlapping other solid pieces.

And here is my granddaughter again ... get ready, you're going to be seeing a lot more of her in future. She is almost 10 months old and has completely stolen my heart!

I finished the piece by adding just a few sprinkles around the page, and backing the white card stock with a piece of dolphin textured card stock.

I hope my project has inspired you to have lots of fun with Doodlebug's Odds and Ends! Happy crafting!
