I created this with the PhotoPlay Creepin' It Real Collection designed by Traci Smith. (Hey! We spell our first name the same!) These papers and images are fantastic - not too cute, not too scary ... but just right. Love!

The custom black acrylic shaped album was made with an SVG by Snapdragon Snippets. It's approx. 5x9 inches and the perfect shape for this paper collection. There's a crack at the top and the shape is slightly wonky ... from years of wear and tear and hauntings. 😉

Doesn't it look great displayed on my clear Acrylic Display Stand? These turn your creative scrapbooks into the best holiday decor. They can be set out, year after year with all your fun memories tucked inside!

The album has 16 scrapbook pages that include 2 fold-out pages, 2 pockets, 3 flippies, and space for 30 frightfully fantastic photos. 

Did you notice the little ghost on the fold-out page above? She's wearing the latest in floral sheet fashion and I think it's just boo-tiful. Also, check out the handy dandy pocket I added to the front flap for extra photos or journaling cards.

Inside that fold-out page, there are two photo mats, a super cool skull and flower embellishment, and the "Hey Boo" ghost flippie with space inside for two more photos. I've really tried to maximize these mini album pages so you can add loads of pictures!

Halloween Advent Calendar with Doodlebug

Hey there! It's time for my next Doodlebug Design Team Project and this one is perfect for the month of October. I put a holiday spin on a Christmas tradition by making a Halloween advent calendar with the new Hey Pumpkin Collection. My grandlittles and I love this fall holiday, so I thought it would be fun to count down the days until they can wear their costumes and eat way too many sweets!

This Home Advent Calendar (links below) is a great way to celebrate Halloween a little bit each day. With 24 drawers that measure 2 1/4" x 2 1/4", they're a perfect size for small surprises. The house is approx. 15" x 16" and made of heavy white chipboard so, it's a colorful holiday decor piece that can be used year after year.

To decorate it, I started by covering the sides in 12x12 pattern papers. I used the Halloween Haul print on the roof and down the sides. Then, I covered the chimney in the pretty pink Boo-Tiful Bouquet.

Next, was the triangular space at the top. I filled it with stickers from the Hey Pumpkin Shadow Box Insert Kit. I love these. This one has witches, pumpkins, candies, spiders, and all sorts of cuteness! Plus they have enamel shape sprinkles that add shine and dimension.

In the center, I added the adorable Pumpkin Patch Doodle-pops. This little black cat and pumpkin are just too cute. And for sparkle, I threw in some mini jewels from the Halloween Assortment. I love this fun collage!

For the drawers, I covered each one in a fab-boo-lous print from the 6x6 paper pad. I used a 1 1/2" scallop circle punch, a 1 1/4" circle punch, and black and white card stock to create the circular shapes. Next, I added lots of cute mini icon stickers and dates with numbers from the Alphabet Soup puffy stickers. 

Since there are only 24 drawers but 30 days leading up to Halloween, I added 2 dates to each of the drawers in the last row. I mean ... there must be a surprise for every day! 😉

So, here are some great small gift ideas ...

For children: candy, small toys, stickers, temporary tattoos, cartoon band-aids, Halloween jewelry, little cars, Barbie clothes, Legos, colorful shoelaces, charms (with a bracelet at the end), small cans of play dough or slime, hair clips, coins, or clues to a scavenger hunt.

Teens to adult: gourmet chocolate, small packets of tea or spices, bath bombs, nail polish, small perfume/cologne, love notes, jewelry, a key ring, a small phone charger, tickets to a fun event, magnets, money, collectible enamel pins, tealight candles, seed packets, or again ... clues to a scavenger hunt.

As the final touch, I trimmed out the front and the chimney with some Chunky Doodle Twine in beetle black.

NEW! Classic Mouse Disney Themed Scrapbook Album

Happy Friday everyone! Whew, I've had a busy few weeks! I took a trip to Utah for the Simple Stories Get Creative Retreat and an anniversary vacation with the hubs. I had so much fun at the event and it was great seeing so many of you there.

Now, it's time to get back to work and today ... I have a brand NEW kit in the shop! It's a Disney themed mini album filled with wonderful vintage images. It's titled Classic Mouse Smile Together and I just love it!

Look how cute! I designed this with a 6x8 inch black binder and the new Simple Stories, Classic Mouse Collection. While Mickey Mouse hasn't changed too much, classic Minnie has a cute hat with a flower, a red skirt, and little white bloomers. Ha! Love her.

The collection was created in the vintage Disney style with a slightly more subdued color scheme and images of Mickey, Minnie, the steamboat, ticket stubs, Pete the captain, the parrot, Caroline Cow, anchors, musical notes, and classic comic speech bubbles.

Inside, there are 24 scrapbook pages that include 2 fold-out pages, 1 pocket, 9 super cute flippies, great places to journal, and space for over 70 fun-filled photos.

This scrapbook is perfect for documenting your vacation to a Disney theme park. Add pictures of your family and friends in front of the castle, the exciting rides, and all your favorite characters.

Don't forget to take photos of the amazing parade, shopping on Main Street, the yummy sweet treats, the show in front of the castle, and the evening fireworks display.

I've included lots of journal cards so you can document your fun memories. Add your itinerary, rank the attractions, list your favorite restaurants, the weather, prices of tickets, and the hotel you stayed at.

School Folio Mini Album Tutorial with Lori Whitlock

Hey crafters! It's time for my latest Lori Whitlock Design Team Project and today, I've created a cute 5.5" x 4" folio style mini album. I chose a colorful school theme for mine, but ... you could make this with ANY paper collection to customize it for your specific photos. It would be wonderful for saving your "big memories"!  

I designed this with one of Lori's awesome cutting files called Multi Flap Mini Album and the new Bella Blvd, School is Cool Collection. This paper line is filled with bright colors, owls, yellow school buses, apples, and lots of fun school supplies. (Product links below.)

First, let's take a look inside then I'll explain exactly how I made it ... 

The album has 2 interactive pages with 4 flaps and one envelope style fold-out in the center. When you open it, the page above is the first one you see. It has a great spot for a photo of your child's first day of school or a fun picture with friends. Flip that over ...

... and you'll see this! On the left is a gate-fold style page with 2 flaps and space inside for more photos. In the center is the envelope style fold-out. Use the clock embellishment to lift up, the bottom section folds down, and inside ...

...  I added a colorful plaid paper and white photo mat. I covered the flaps in a black patterned paper filled with more school supplies.  

On the right, there's a second gate-fold page. You could add photos to all the flaps (front and back), cover them in a cute pattern paper, or ... both!

Then, on the backside of that gate-fold page there's another page with a photo mat and a cute bookworm.

Here's a broader look at the folio. Check out all those fun spaces for photos of your child's school days! If you add pictures to all of the flaps, this mini album will hold 15 photos. I decided to add cute papers to some of mine so this one holds 9-11 photos.

Now for the tutorial ...

1.  I cut out all of my pieces using black card stock and patterned papers.

2. There is one base piece that folds around the flap pages. I folded this piece on the score lines and added the red and plaid prints.

3. There are 3 flap pages that are all the same size and have 2 score lines on each. Fold the score lines on all three pieces, then adhere the flaps back-to-back as shown in the photo above. This becomes a tri-fold with two flaps that open to the right and left, and each flap has two additional flaps.

4.  The envelope style fold-out gets adhered in the center of this piece, and then the entire piece gets adhered to the base. It will help to fold up all of the flaps into a 5.25” x 4” bundle and adhere the entire thing between the score lines on the base cover.

5.  Add photo mats and embellishments as desired. 

6.  You can finish by wrapping a ribbon or twine around the album, or choose a large embellishment to keep your cover flap closed. To do this, I added a piece of foam tape to the right side of the back of my embellishment, added it to the larger side of the cover, and tucked the smaller side of the cover underneath.

And there ya have it! This super cute mini album can be made with ANY paper collection in ANY theme! It would be fabulous designed for fall, Halloween, or Christmas and displayed on one of my Acrylic Display Stands as decor in your home. So fun!

Gumball Machine Shaped Halloween Mini Album

Hey guys! It's time for my latest Doodlebug Design Team Project and this one is pretty "sweet"! I made a gumball machine shaped Halloween mini album with a candy filled shaker on the cover. It has the cutest holiday images and bright festive colors. What a fun and unique project for your October memories!

I designed this with Doodlebug's adorable Hey Pumpkin Collection and cutting file called Gumball Machine (links below). Cutting files can be used in so many different ways and always give me such great inspiration.  

I've been waiting for the right project to use these tiny Sweet Treats shaker pieces and this was it. On the cover, I created the shaker and filled it with die cuts and shaker pieces. I love the movement it adds. Note: Towards the bottom of the page, I've added a few instructions on how I made the shaker.  

Inside, I add 6 white scrapbook pages and covered each one in a fab-boo-lous 12x12 pattern paper. I love the Plaid It's Halloween print above, the adorable witch die cut, and the eyeballs floating in her cauldron, LOL!

I made a scalloped circle photo mat for each page using a 3.5" scalloped punch, a 3" circle punch, and paper from the 6x6 inch paper pad. The smaller print sizes are perfect for these. 

Then, I decorated the album with pieces from the Odds & Ends, Chit Chat, and stickers from the This & That. Oh my gosh, every single embellishment is cuter than the next. The little black cat tucked in the flowers is precious and on the next page, the dessert stand is filled with treats that look too cute to eat!

What a fun little scrapbook for Halloween photos. Add pictures of a visit to the pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins, the fun costumes, a party, a school event, and your home's spooktacular decorations.

Going to a fall festival or carnival? Don't forget to take pictures of the rides, the haunted house, a hay ride, corn maze, and crazy characters you see along the way.

Or ... maybe you have plans to attend a special holiday event at a theme park like Disney, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Legoland, or Busch Gardens? This mini would be great for those memories!

This would also make a super unique handmade gift. Create it for a friend, your sister or mom, a neighbor, your babysitter or dog walker, a school teacher, or the host of the Halloween party. They will love it!

Ok, time for a few simple instructions on how I made the shaker ...

I turned the cover into a shaker by creating a frame out of the inner globe piece. I duplicated it, highlighted the shape, and made an internal offset to create another line inside.

Next, I highlighted both shapes, right clicked, and chose "Make Compound Path" to delete the inner shape and leave the frame portion. And finally, I backed the frame with clear acetate and adhered it to the original background shape with foam tape. 

Look how cute this scrapbook is displayed on my clear Acrylic Display Stand! These turn your amazing projects into the best holiday decor, year after year.
